Celebrating Black Legacy: Toronto Pearson Honours Black History Month 2025

Today marks the beginning of Black History Month, a time to honour and celebrate the rich heritage and contributions of our Black communities at Toronto Pearson, across Canada, and globally. This year's federal government theme is "Black Legacy and Leadership: Celebrating Canadian History and Uplifting Future Generations," which recognizes the historic achievements and future potential of Black communities in Canada.

At the GTAA, we recognize the importance of uplifting Black voices and take steps to dismantle barriers to Black inclusion year-round. This Black History Month, we continue to honour our commitment to building spaces of inclusion, justice, equality, and joy throughout Toronto Pearson.

Giving Back to Our Community

This February, Toronto Pearson is proud to sponsor the City of Brampton's Black History Month celebration gala. Additionally, we are committing $10,000 each to two local non-profit organizations:

Help A Girl Out

This organization strives to accelerate menstrual equity through access, empowerment, and education. Their programming aims to end period poverty by addressing the unmet menstrual needs of vulnerable individuals, foster healthy communities, and dismantle the social contributors to menstrual stigma.

Frontlines Toronto

This is a youth informed and youth driven organization that serves individuals aged 6 to 29. Through homework clubs, culinary programs, health education, leadership skills-building, summer camps, and more, Frontlines empowers young people to thrive and reach their fullest potential.
