WestJet labour dispute: What you need to know
Update – 2:01 p.m., Aug 02
Pearson’s operations today are consistent with peak summer travel, with about 150,000 passengers scheduled to pass through the terminals today on more than 1,000 flights. WestJet represented 123 of those flights, which have now been cancelled. We have been working closely with WestJet on an aircraft parking plan.
In line with today’s schedule, we have a high volume of passengers travelling. Toronto Pearson has also been actively preparing for any potential disruption to WestJet operations, and impact on WestJet passengers. As part of our planning, Toronto Pearson has additional staff and resources in place throughout the terminals and in baggage operations. Our Passenger Care Team is on site providing assistance. We are also monitoring active weather in the forecast this afternoon.
