Aira ASL

Aira ASL is an app that delivers on-demand American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for those who are deaf or hard of hearing. It’s free to use at Toronto Pearson.

We’re proud to be the first airport in Canada to offer Aira ASL for free.

At the tap of a button, travelers at Toronto Pearson can instantly connect to a professional ASL interpreter.

Using the video and microphone capabilities of a smartphone, Aira ASL allows passengers to communicate seamlessly with airport staff – empowering them to navigate our airport independently and confidently.

How it works

Aira ASL can use any connection, cellular or Wi-Fi. At Pearson, passengers can use the app for free, although data charges may apply.

  1. Download the Aira ASL App through the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Open the app, register with your phone number and enter the authentication code you receive.
  3. Tap “Connect with an Interpreter” to access live ASL interpretation. For more detailed instructions, view the Aira ASL guide.
