Toronto Pearson and British Airways are proud to celebrate an incredible milestone — 65 years of connecting Toronto to the United Kingdom! Since British Airways’ first flight landed at Pearson, the airline has played a vital role in bringing people together.
The journey began on March 1, 1960, when BOAC (British Overseas Airways Corporation) introduced service to Toronto with Comet 4 and the Britannia aircraft via Montreal. The airline expanded rapidly, launching Boeing 747s in 1971 and steadily increasing flights over the decades. By summer 2006, British Airways was operating 21 weekly flights with two daily Boeing 777s and a daily Boeing 767.
Today, British Airways has remained a key connection between Toronto and the world! We are proud to continue this partnership, serving nearly 400,000 travellers annually.
