Cathay Pacific is celebrating a major milestone in 2026: 80 years since the airline was founded in Hong Kong in 1946. Under the theme “80 Years Together,” Cathay is marking eight decades of growth, from a single wartime-surplus aircraft to one of the world’s leading international carriers.
Pearson is proud to be part of that story. Cathay Pacific is the only airline offering nonstop service between Canada and Hong Kong, connecting Pearson’s Terminal 3 directly with Hong Kong International Airport’s Terminal 1 with an Airbus A350 aircraft. For 32 years, Cathay Pacific has helped connect our two cities.
Throughout the anniversary year, passengers can spot special touches celebrating Cathay’s history, including a retro green-and-white “lettuce leaf sandwich” livery on select aircraft, along with cabin crew and ground staff wearing vintage uniforms from across the airline’s history. It’s a chance to experience decades of Cathay’s evolution up close, right here at Pearson.
To mark the milestone, Cathay Pacific is offering passengers flying to Hong Kong a free gift with purchase over $200. It's one more way to celebrate 80 years of connecting Canada and Hong Kong.
