Toronto Pearson welcomes federal measures to improve passenger journey, support recovery

Greater Toronto Airports Authority President and CEO Deborah Flint issued the following statement today:

“Toronto Pearson is a driving force behind Canada’s economy – before the pandemic, the airport contributed approximately $42 billion a year to Ontario’s economy, or 6.3 per cent of GDP. Toronto Pearson’s success is critical for Canada’s future economic growth and global competitiveness.

The pandemic challenged every aspect of the aviation industry and the recovery continues. Toronto Pearson welcomes today’s federal budget, including new measures intended to reduce passenger wait times; support better data sharing and public reporting; change the Customs Act to streamline and leverage technology; and support more comprehensive use of digital tools. These are strong steps that will improve the passenger journey and support our sector’s recovery.

Toronto Pearson stands ready to work with the Transport Minister and the Government of Canada to support implementation of changes that will deliver a better experience for Canadian travellers and visitors to our country.”
