Let’s Celebrate the People Who Make Pearson Fly

On June 25, we’re joining airports across Canada to mark Airport Workers Day - a day to recognize and thank the people who make it all happen.

At Toronto Pearson, we’re celebrating the 52,000 workers who keep Canada’s busiest airport running connecting people, powering the economy, and making every journey possible.

Airport Workers Keep Canada Moving

From airside operations and security to food services and flight services, Toronto Pearson’s workforce keeps the airport running 24/7. These workers power safe travel, welcoming experiences, and the smooth movement of people and goods.

Behind every takeoff and every arrival are thousands of committed individuals working behind the scenes to keep things moving.

  • Serving 46.8 million passengers in 2024
  • Connecting to 199 destinations worldwide
  • Supporting freight and supply chains across North America

The Economic Power of Pearson

The Pearson Economic Zone includes the area surrounding the airport, spanning the five municipalities of Mississauga, Toronto, Brampton, Vaughan and Caledon.

As a heart of activity within the Pearson Economic Zone, Toronto Pearson doesn’t just connect people, it powers prosperity. As one of Canada’s most important economic drivers, the airport supports jobs, fuels businesses, and generates government revenues that benefit us all.

The Pearson Economic Zone by the Numbers:

  • 1 in 7 jobs across the Toronto region are located here
  • Supports 133,000 jobs across Canada
  • Accounts for 1 in every 70 jobs in Ontario
  • Contributes $19.6 billion in GDP to the Canadian economy

Built by the Region, For the Region

Many of the people who keep Toronto Pearson moving each day also live in the communities around it.

That’s why we dedicate 1% of our net profits to creating economic opportunities close to home, through training, local hiring, and programs that help our neighbours access meaningful, long-term careers.

Because when airports grow, the communities surrounding them should grow too.

From Tarmac to Terminal: Thank you, Airport Workers

Airport workers are trusted with what matters most, the safety of travellers, the security of goods, and the delivery of exceptional service at every step.

They are the reason Pearson is recognized for innovation, care, and operational excellence.

On June 25, we celebrate the people who make it all possible, today and every day.

Share your thanks on social media.
