2020 capital maintenance

This year’s projects

There are two important areas of work for this year:

  • Rebuilding sections of Taxiway H
  • Rehabilitation of Runway 15L/33R

The following information includes predicted operational contingencies for each maintenance project based on available information. Please note that airport operations are dynamic and can be affected by many conditions such as weather, safety, and traffic levels.

For more information, keep reading or take a look at the latest community presentation for information about the work, including maps and diagrams of the work areas.

Please note that timelines may shift depending on weather and surface conditions.

Project One – Rebuilding Taxiway H

This project will focus on the replacement of concrete slabs on Taxiway H, affecting the availability of Runway 05/23. Work will be completed in three phases. Phase 1 and 2 will be completed concurrently.

Phase 1 – Complete (Started week of May 25)
Regular hours and overnight

Runway 05/23 will be temporarily shortened during this time. This could result in an increased use of Runway 15L and 33R for one-off departures of large aircraft that need extra runway length.

Residents living in areas directly north and south of the airport are most likely to notice a change:

  • North – Brampton East, Brampton Centre, Brampton North, Mississauga-Malton
  • South – Etobicoke Centre, Etobicoke-Lakeshore, Mississauga East-Cooksville

Phase 2 – Complete (Started week of May 25)
Regular hours and overnight

Increased usage of maintenance contingency preferential runways, including 06L, 24R, and 15L is expected.

Residents living in areas directly north and south of the airport aligned with these runways are most likely to notice a change:

  • North – Brampton East, Brampton Centre, Brampton North, Mississauga-Malton
