Departures and arrivals have resumed at Toronto Pearson as of 5 p.m. All 76 passengers and four crew from Delta flight 4819 were accounted for. A number of passengers were taken to local hospitals. The airport remains open. Passengers are advised to check their flight status before coming to the airport.

The impact to passengers

Overall, the impacts to passengers are not expected to be significant and may be unnoticeable to most.

If the passenger experience is changed by this work, the most likely way that will be felt is through a slightly longer than average time to travel to and from the runways. The change in taxi times would be imperceptible to an infrequent air traveller.

Irregular operations caused by bad weather (i.e. high wind, lightning or rain) may result in the airport having to operate on its north/south runways, of which one (15L/33R) will be closed for maintenance. As a result, flights could be cancelled or delayed.
