People of Pearson: Diana

“My name is Diana and I’m a Senior Representative, Commercial Activation with the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA). I started my airport career in 2003 as the Administrative Assistant to the Senior Manager of Parking and Ground Transportation working out of Terminal 2 before it was permanently closed and demolished in 2007, replaced by an expanded Terminal 1. Terminal 3 retains its numbering to prevent confusion.

“Over the past 19 years I have held various positions on the Parking team and Food and Beverage team. Now as a member of the Commercial Activation team, I am part of a well-knit group that brings to life new ideas and concepts for airport restaurants and shops through the design and construction phase.

“The first day a commercial partner opens their doors and starts serving passengers is the most rewarding part; it is a revelation of all the hard work and collaboration that went into bringing a new idea to fruition.

“The best part of the job is the people—they are such a great group to work with! Among our team and all our business partners, there is a sense of family. I’ve always referred to the airport as a small city within the city; we have our own community and neighbourhood with friendly and welcoming neighbours.”
