“My name is Wesley and I’m a Manager of Terminal Operations with the GTAA. I’ve been with the GTAA for five years, starting off as an electrician. I worked for two years in the oil sands in Fort McMurray, which really broadened my skillset in the trade, before returning to Toronto and joining the GTAA. I completed the 18-month Management Trainee Program with the company, after which I applied for and successfully got a role with the Terminal Operations team, and I’ve been with the group for two and a half years now.
“It can be challenging, at times, with how many players are involved in processing passengers as safely and efficiently as possible, so we spend a lot of time developing programs with our partners, the agencies, to make sure we’re doing that. I love my team and the people I get to work with. They all do such an amazing job dealing with thousands of passengers every day; there are days where they really experience the hustle and bustle in busier times, but they always have a smile on their face.
“My advice to anyone just starting their career or looking for change: Take risks and make yourself uncomfortable by taking on new challenges. There is nothing as fulfilling as being able to conquer that next obstacle.”
