“When I was entering my police foundations course, I would never have imagined I would end up working at the airport for seventeen years.
As Manager of Terminal Services and Standards, I manage one of the most important service contracts at the airport—cleaning, which is performed by Dexterra. We have responsibility for terminal cleanliness from the minute passengers touch the curb to the moment they board the aircraft.
Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, we were innovating, looking at new technology and processes to improve every aspect of how we clean the airport. This work is all about gaining the passengers’ trust. We have autonomous robots that clean the floors so that our cleaners can focus on more detailed work. We’ve incorporated disinfectant fogging machines that can disinfect entire sections of the terminal and we’re introducing more touchless fixtures and advanced technologies in our washrooms. We’ve even started working with an industrial hygienist to assess each step of our cleaning processes.
I’m excited about all the innovation that we’re bringing to Toronto Pearson. At the end of the day, what we’re doing is more than cleaning, we’re helping to ensure the health and safety of all passengers and airport employees.”
