"As Associate Director of Infrastructure Redevelopment, I manage the design and construction of major building projects that create new space or redevelop existing areas within the terminals. The construction of the brand-new Pier G has been my focus lately and we are just completing the latest stage.
We’ve added five new gates and glass bridges, expanded the existing holding room and added retail that creates a much more comfortable experience for passengers. This project was vital specifically for our passengers who travel to the United States. We needed more capacity to handle larger aircraft and the growth in passenger volume, and also to create a better passenger experience.
My career at Pearson started in the late 1980s, when I worked on the development of Terminal 3. I also worked on the development of Terminal 1. I’ve stayed at Pearson because of the excitement of the aviation business in general. I love the constant change. Sometimes it can be stressful, too. We’re doing construction in the middle of a major international airport, with passengers, airlines and retailers all going about their business. We can’t ever disrupt that.
The next stage of Pier G is going to be extremely exciting, building a new multi-level structure that adds more passenger boarding bridges, a fantastic retail hub and even more lounge space—all in the middle of an active airfield. It will be a major enhancement to the passenger experience and to the airport infrastructure, preparing us for continued growth. I’m excited to be a part of that."
