Toronto Pearson’s CEO Deborah Flint attended the first National Supply Chain Summit organized by Minister Omar Alghabra and attended by Ministers Mary Ng, François-Philippe Champagne and others. Flint looks forward to future discussions about the important role that aviation can play in cargo movements. Pearson is an integral component in maintaining the supply chain in Canada, with 40% of Canada's air cargo coming through the airport. We thank all of the Ministers for shining a spotlight on this important issue.
We know just how critical cargo is and during 2020 worked with airlines, government and agencies to ensure that the 70% of cargo that historically was in the belly of passenger aircraft was able to continue moving. Passenger aircraft were retrofit for strictly cargo to ensure the supply chain was not impacted with reduced passenger volumes.
