To transport items across the world, we need to move them by plane, train, ship or truck. When they are moved in this way, they are called cargo. Almost half of Canada’s air cargo passes through Pearson and can arrive and depart from Pearson 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Before COVID-19, majority of cargo arriving and departing from Pearson was air and space craft parts, computer components and precious stones and minerals, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, fresh fruit, vegetables, other food and textiles. However, in these changing times, Pearson has become a critical link for air cargo, ensuring Canada has access to time critical medical supplies, highly perishable goods and materials needed to support economic stability and recovery.
