Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we are unable to hold in-person events and activities, but we’ll be highlighting key safety messages and initiatives online all week long. Each day will focus on different safety topics and employees will be able to participate in online contests and have chances to win some great prizes!
Activities this year include:
Safety Through My Eyes photo contest
When our workplaces are healthy and safe, they contribute to a safe and healthy Toronto Pearson overall. Since safety is everyone’s responsibility, the entire Toronto Pearson worker community will have the chance to participate in our Safety Through My Eyes Photo Contest and help us capture how we’re staying safe and healthy. Keep an eye on our website and social media as we share photos later this week!Foreign Object Debris (FOD) photo contest
Toronto Pearson workers will have the chance to be a part of a week-long initiative during Airport Safety Week where they can do their part in keeping the airfield clean, and also receive a chance to win by submitting FOD photos!FOD Awareness online training contest
FOD creates safety hazards where small debris, wildlife or loose objects can potentially impact airport operations by damaging aircraft, ground equipment and injuring airport employees. The mandatory FOD Awareness training will help identify FOD, methods to eliminate it and how to prevent it, and employees can even win a prize for completing the training!
Safety Sam
Safety Sam will be roaming Toronto Pearson all week making sure safe acts are recognized and rewarded. Employees can also nominate their colleagues for an Eye on Safety Award!FOD walk
Later this week, employees will have a chance to keep the airside free of hazards and get to know their fellow co-workers by helping to pick up FOD from the airside followed by a lunch. These are just some of the activities happening at Toronto Pearson this week. Employees will also have the opportunity to take part in safety talks, including a webinar with Amber-Lee Jenkins, Associate Director, Safety and Security Quality Assurance at the GTAA.
