[18:19] At 18:19 this evening an Sunwing aircraft, carrying no passengers and under tow made contact with an arriving WestJet flight 2425 waiting to park on the Terminal 3 apron at Toronto Pearson. Fire and Emergency Services has responded to the incident and extinguished a small fire on the Sunwing aircraft; passengers on the Westjet aircraft have been evacuated safely and have returned to the terminal.
Some flight operations at Terminal 3 have been impacted by the incident but otherwise airport operations are unaffected. An investigation is underway. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
[22:10] Following the incident at Toronto Pearson’s Terminal 3 this evening, all Westjet passengers aboard Flight WS2425 have been safely returned to the terminal and are being cleared by Canadian Border Services Agency.
One member of the Toronto Pearson Fire and Emergency Service is being treated in hospital.
The Transportation Safety Board has arrived at Toronto Pearson and will be completing an investigation.
At this time, airport operations have not been significantly affected by the incident but continue to be challenged by the extreme cold weather conditions.
