GTAA President and CEO Howard Eng was recognized this week with the Brampton Board of Trade’s International Ambassador award. The award recognizes a member of the business community who promotes Brampton on the international stage.
The Business Excellence Awards provides the Board of Trade with the opportunity to share, recognize, inspire, and ultimately join forces within the business community. International Ambassador award winners are chosen from nominees who promote Brampton internationally, attract talent to the city, cultivate diversity into the cultural fabric or spur investment in Brampton.
During his five-year tenure as the President and CEO of the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, Mr. Eng has worked to envision the growth of Toronto Pearson International Airport into a megahub; an airport that will provide much-needed worldwide connectivity and drive Brampton’s economy through desirability of investment and facilitating tourism. Improved business opportunities allow Brampton businesses to thrive by opening doors to bigger markets and enhancing access to talent.
Finally, Mr. Eng’s work as CEO to build and promote better transit connectivity in the airport area was recognized for allowing Brampton and other communities around the airport to fully avail themselves of the significant opportunities that are part of the exciting growth experienced by the airport and the region, by optimizing the movement of people and goods on the ground.
“Howard’s thoughtful execution of the airport’s vision encourages others to grow internationally,” said Todd Letts, CEO of the Brampton Board of Trade. “His vision for a regional transit centre inspires many in Brampton's business community. For that reason, he is a deserving recipient of Brampton's 2017 International Ambassador award."
The award was presented to Mr. Eng at the Brampton Board of Trade’s annual Business Excellence Awards on May 11, 2017.
