This year, Toronto Pearson is thrilled to have the opportunity to welcome athletes and spectators from across the globe for this year’s TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games as the Official Welcome Partner.
Preparing for the TORONTO 2015 Games and its activities will require extensive resources at the airport. To make sure we’re focused on the Games and provide the best possible welcome for our city’s visitors, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2015 Street Festival. After reviewing our options, we were unable to find a date in the summer or fall season when the availability of staff and partner support lined up with an available venue.
Toronto Pearson loves welcoming its neighbours to the airport each year for Street Festival, our largest community event. We have every intention of hosting Street Festival in future years and we expect 2016 Street Festival to be bigger and better than ever.
We hope to see you at some of our other community events this year, like Runway Run, airside tours and community open houses. To stay in-the-know about events and initiatives happening at the airport, sign up for our newsletter, Checking In.
We understand the disappointment of those who were looking forward to this year’s event and we reviewed all options before making the difficult decision of cancelling Street Festival 2015.
We looked at a number of dates following the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games, however we were unable to find a date in which a venue and adequate resources lined up with the many partners required to host Street Festival.
There are a number of ways to volunteer at Toronto Pearson. For those able to make a regular weekly commitment, we encourage you to join our Welcome Team. We also have upcoming volunteer opportunities at some of our other community events, like the Runway Run. We also hope you’ll volunteer at the 2016 Street Festival. Thanks to the many volunteers, Toronto Pearson employees, vendors, partners and our community for making Street Festival 2014 a fantastic event.
Check out photos, videos and feedback Facebook, Twitter and on Instagram using our hashtag #YYZStreetFest. We love hearing back from our community.
“In a lot of ways Pearson International Airport is a city unto itself. There's a population of 40,000 employees, they have a couple of fire departments and a police station, customs facilities and vendors that easily match a city shopping plaza.” – Mississauga News
